Time for a New Cheek, Kids

I’m woman enough to know when it’s time for a new cheek. As my old SYB Babes will know, I used to be married to a certain Nars Blush in Exhibit A. This bright, matte orange cheekcolor was the stars, the moon, my everything. I rocked it everyday — even used it on two of my friends’ eight-woman-deep bridal parties (each of the bridesmaids ran the skincolor gamut, too…it was gorge on everyone). But lo, its moment has passed. So here, I’ve rounded up my top three new blushes for spring/summer. Get into them!

When I'm feeling sassy!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Frisky ($25) looks crazy vivid in the compact, but this subtly shimmery, fruit punchy coral goes on surprisingly subtle. Just bright enough, you know? It’s exactly the oomph my dead, post-winter skin needs — it makes me look radiant and spectacularly well-bedded, even though god knows that’s not true. Adore. And it really does last twelve hours.

When I'm feeling au naturale!

Lancome Blush Subtil in Tangerine Tint ($30) is sooo pretty. You can barely see it; the soft, peachy hue almost disappears into the skin, leaving just a sweet sheen of petal soft color. I love it. This is for the days when I want to look warm, healthy and lit-from-within without trying.

When I'm feeling romantique!

Make Up Forever HD High Definition Blush in Caught in the Act ($26) is a deep, bright raspberry that’s stunning on all brown skin tones. I know, because I did a test with three of my girlfriends. It leaves the loveliest, plummy flush — so dreamy romance heroine-esque. The best part? It’s spiked with mattifying powders to combat mid-day greasies. Brill.
